Lord of the Flies
Chapter 4 -  PAINTED FACES AND LONG HAIR
" OWE JACK!!!!!!!! "
Perspective: Piggy

Hello my name is Jenny Dutra and I will be interviewing Piggy today.

Jenny: So Piggy what things are you having trouble adjusting to on the island that is different from your life at home in England?

Piggy: Well Jenny it’s way different than home because my aunty would be here all the time feeding me and giving me food. She would also be making sure I’m safe and healthy. She would make sure the water I swam in wouldn’t have GOUTS in it.

Jenny: How do you feel about the littluns?

Piggy: I don’t really mind the littluns that much, it’s Ralph and Jack mostly don’t like. They are always sitting around.

Jenny: What do they do with their time?

Piggy: The littluns mostly just play around and bathe in the water. That’s also what I do too.

Jenny: Why doesn’t the passing ship see you on the island?

Piggy: Well first of all we didn’t have any fire because it was Jacks job to watch the fire, but instead he went hunting. When the ship went past the island it didn’t see anything. Everyone got really mad at Jack including me, but when I yelled at him he punched me. Then after that I kept looking at him MALEVOLENTLY. It’s almost like he’s IMPALPABL. That whole night he was very BELLIGERENCE to me.

Jenny: What do you predict will happen next on this island?

Piggy: I really don’t know but I hope that Jack would stop putting on that clay mask, his skin is so SWARTHINE, it’s kind of scaring me.

Lord of the Flies
chapter 3- Hunts on the beach
"People stop playing"
Perspective: Ralph

Dear Diary,
Ugggghhhh....

I woke up thinking that today would be a really good day. I thought that all of the kids would help with the hunting and the building of the shelter. Instead they all went off and played in the water. I ended up doing all of the building of the houses and Jack and Simon did the hunting. Jack and Simon came back from their hunt with nothing to show for but their bare hands and were very contrite. All Jack could think of was the pig that got away. He was rapt about catching the pig. I told him not to worry about the pig because we need to finish the shelter. He just kept on making a soft susurration to himself. I turned around to see what the others were doing and saw Piggy laying on the ground. He was starring at his reflection in the water. The others were bathing and playing in the water.

Jack and I were talking about if we blew the shell it would get the kids attention and they would come over to us. We knew if they did come over they would not be able to resist the compulsion to play and would only work for a little while. We felt like it wasn’t worth the vicissitudes to get them to work.

Lord of the Flies
Chapter 2- Fire on the mountain
"Shut up piggy"
Perspective: Jack

Dear Journal

Uggggggghhhhhh.......

Today was a really bad day. Everyone was fighting and it was really hectic, it felt like I was martyring. No one is really sure if this is a good island or a bad island. I personally think that this island is just like any other island. It has some animals, but I would probably kill all of them. This beastie snake thing is nothing to be scared of, this little boy is just having a bad dream. If there were a snake or beastie then I would have seen it with my own two eyes.

Piggy was being so stupid today and I don’t like it. He thinks he could just tell everyone what to do and he acts like the oldest one here, but he’s not.  For example when we started the fire everyone was capering but piggy. He sounded like a broken record, saying this isn’t going to work.  Piggy was saying something about how we were being so errant, but I don’t think we were. We had a plan, so we went and did it.

Ralph keeps on saying that his dad is going to come and find us, but I don’t see him yet.  I would like him to show up now. I can’t stand Piggy anymore he is driving me crazy. I tell him to shut up, but he never does and people always take his side. For example when Piggy was holding the shell I told him to shut up, then Ralph quickly told me to shut up. Then Piggy got to induce holding the shell.

Each night I go to bed wondering if I will be able to kill a pig the next day just to show people that I can do it. The first time was a practice, I didn’t know what I was doing so I froze. The next time I will catch it and if I don’t then shame on me. Well I have to go to bed, if I don’t then I won’t have any ebullience in me so good night.
