Lord of the Flies

Chapter 11: Castle Rock

1. In the beginning of the chapter, what does Piggy tell Ralph to do with the conch?

Piggy tells Ralph to blow the conch for a meeting, but Ralph didn’t because he new that know one would come.

2. What reason will Piggy give Jack for the return of his glasses?

Piggy wants to just comely go up to Jack and ask him for his glasses back because he can’t see without them.

3. What does Ralph declare their appearance will be when they approach Jack?

Ralph wants the boys to be clean and to have their hair brushed back.

4. Who challenges the boys on their approach to Castle Rock?

Roger challenges the boys on Castle Rock.

5. When Jack appears, what has he been doing?

Jack went hunting before the fight of him and Ralph. I no this because the book says that he was holding a pig’s body with its head chopped off.

6. What does Ralph call Jack that provokes a fight?

Ralph tells Jack that if he would have asked for the glasses to start a fire for cooking then he would have given it to him, but he didn’t he stole them.

7. What happens to Samneric after the fight?

They get tide up and they were forced into Jack’s tribe.

8. What is Roger doing during Piggy’s plea for a return to decency?

Roger is on top of the mountain and he pushed the rock down the hill that kills Piggy

9.  I think that Jack is responsible for piggy’s death. If Jack did want to be chef so bad then everyone would probably be doing better then they are now. Everyone on Jack’s tribe are just animals they enjoy killing pigs and animals and now I’m starting to think that they enjoy killing humans. That tribe is really bad and if I was there I would want to be with jack right now or on the other side of the island.

Dear journal,

The Island got really crazy when I left and even before I left. I hard about the talk with Ralph and Piggy and it was really interesting. I am on Ralph side even though it was dark I did say stop and that it was me a bunch of times and they kept on going. Even though Piggy does have a point it was dark and they couldn’t see anything, I’m still on Ralph’s side on this one.

Jack shouldn’t be ruling anything because he gets to into it and he makes everyone do what he says. I also agree with Ralph’s tribe on this that Jack is getting out of control and sooner or later there going to turn into even bigger animals then they were before.  Some one needs to do something before another person dies. It’s so bad hopefully they get rescued soon because I can’t take this anymore.

I couldn’t believe that Jack went and attacked Ralphs tribe like he did I was unbelievable. He did not have any right to do what he did, should have just asked for piggy’s glasses to make a fire. If I were Ralph I would be going crazy, I would go up to jack and scream at him. It’s amazing how just one person can tear everyone apart like that. It’s also amazing that everyone’s on Jack’s side and not on Ralph’s

Lord of the Flies

Chapter 9: A View to Death

I do believe that Jack and his hunters are responsible for Simon’s death because Jack did start this group of animals (people) and all of the hunters are lead to believe that there is a beast out there some were. Also Jack is getting a little out of control with his leadership. On of the examples of Jack getting out of control is- Jack spoke “ give me a drink.” Henry brought him a shell and he drank, watching Piggy and Ralph over the jagged rim. Power lay in the brown shell of his forearms; authority sat on his shoulder and chattered in his ear like ape. “ All sit down I choose this from the book because it shows how Jack is acting like he’s the king of the world when really his not.  Another part is- Jack leapt on to the stand “ do you dance! Come on! Dance!”  This is another good example of how jack is getting to out of control and since he’s leader every ones going to follow him and that’s how there turning into animals.

Lord of the Flies

Chapter 8: A Gift from the Darkness

This scene that I picked was the scene where Jack and his hunters killed a pig. It was a vary evil and detailed scene. You here/read how the boys are quickly becoming animals. Jack is obviously the leader of this new group and it seems like all he really cares about like always is hunting and being a leader or a king. Jack doesn’t really care about other people and other things. This scene was just showing how Jack and the hunters are really hooked on hunting and killing. If Ralph didn’t call this meeting and Jack didn’t want to be leader so bad then I don’t think any of this would have happened. But Jack has to be leader or king so when Ralph called that meeting Jack needed to do something about it. Now everyone is on a different side and Jacks team are getting really bad.  Jack is always trying to get more people on his side, so that he can have all of the people and Ralph only have piggy. Right now the sides are, on Ralphs side there is Ralph, Piggy, Sam, Eric, and the littluns. On Jacks side there is all the hunters. It doesn’t really seem like jack has a lot but he really does. Also he is living at the coastal rock, which personally I think it’s better then where Ralph, it living.

Lord of the flies

Chapter 7- Shadows and Tall Trees

“Kill”

Perspective: Ralph

Jenny- What is the game the boys play after spearing the pig? Who spears the pig? Describe the mood of the boys afterwards.

Ralph- Well it wasn’t really a game it was more like a play or a reenactment. It was really weird the boys that were “killing” the  “pig” (Robert) vary cheerfully like they had fun.

Jenny- Jack suggests, “You could get someone to dress up as a pig and    then he could act, you know, pretend to knock me over and all that.” Robert said that they need a real pig because it has to be killed.

Ralph- Jack was way out of line when he said that, he was vary BUN. When he said pig he really meant the littlun. When he said that I was looking at his face and it had no  IMPERVIOUS.

Jenny- What evidence did the boys find to prove that there is a beast? (Why are they so gullible?)

Answer- Well the boys don’t really no that the beast is a human from a plane. Everybody always has to agreed SAGELY.

Jenny- Why do you think that Jack doesn’t like the littlun’s ? What does this foreshadow?

Ralph- Well Jack doesn’t like the littlun’s because they don’t do there work. They’re always playing games like RUGGER. I think that we are going to end up going into groups even though I would love for us to stay together because I could make sure that people are ok. This isn’t like are MOORS back home.

Lord of the Flies
Chapter 6- BEAST FROM AIR
"Wheres the Beast "
Perspective: Jack

We are going to interviewing Jack....

Jenny- What sign comes down from the grown up world?

Book- The thing ends up being a human coming down from a plane. The body came down because it’s world war 2

Jenny- Why aren’t the boys aware of it?

Jack- The boys aren’t aware of the body because Sam and Eric thought it was a beast.

Jenny- Why are Sam ‘n Eric so terrified?

Jack- Sam and Eric are so terrified because they think that there’s a beast out in the forest. People also think they’re a LEVIATHAN.

Jenny- How do Sam ‘n Eric describe the beast?

Jack- It had wings, claws, fangs, it was also WAXY.

Jenny- What is the attitude of the boys when going off to look for the beast?

Jack- When Ralph and I herd there was a beast I wanted to go kill it right away, but Ralph just had to go against me again. Ralph wanted to make a game plan, like that would help us kill the beast.

Jenny- Is there really a beast? How do you know?

Jack- Well I think its still out there even if it wasn’t living in the rocks with GUANO on it.

Jenny- Why do you really not care about being rescued?

Jack- I care about being rescued but it’s one thing that’s not on my mind right now. I could do anything here, I could be FLAILING something and no one would care. I’m EMBROILED here, it’s like a dream come true to me.

Lord of the Flies
Chapter 5- Beast from Water
" Stop it Jack"
Perspective: Simon

We are going to interviewing Simon

Jenny- why is an assembly called?

Simon- Well the assembly was called because know one was doing there jobs. Also Ralph was really mad at Jack for taking people away from doing their jobs to help him hunt. Jack just thinks that Ralph is being ludicrous.

Jenny- what concerns are brought up?

Simon- Well something’s that the littluns aren’t doing anymore is going to the bathroom in the right spot.

Jenny- how do you feel about those concerns?

Simon- I really think it’s not necessary for people to do that because it’s getting all over are food. Also think that the lost there decorum

throughout the days we’ve been on this island.

Jenny- how are things breaking up (falling apart)?

Simon- well I think when it really got bad was when jack took the two boys that were supposed to be watching the fire to go hunting with him. When a ship came there was no fire so the ship couldn’t see us, now Ralph is really mad at Jack for doing that. Also Jack got really jealous when we choose Ralph to be the chef, we just thought he would be a good effigy.

Jenny-Why do you think the littluns cry in their sleep?

Simon- when we had are assembly one littlun was telling us how there’s a beast that comes out of the water and it could walk on land.

Jenny- what do you think is “the dirtiest thing there is” about human nature?

Simon- I think the dirtiest thing is jealousy. Jealousy could do bad things to a person. For example Jack is jealous of piggy I no this for a fact because he always looks at Piggy jeeringly and hates it when people are on Piggy’s side. He’s incantation of is words were powerful.
